Business:
Fundraising: Pat confirmed that the money has arrived for the two successful District grant applications. These included £500 for a joint project between Mel of The Plough and Red Zebra. Pat asked Mel to step in for a moment so she could pass on the good news.
Pat / Paul said that we are still a bit short for the car parking next Sunday 9th April, especially for the opening-up shift. Robert volunteered to help Pete do this.
TWAM on Saturday 22nd April is now sorted.
International: Pat said that Walk4Water had gone very well last Friday. Andrew B proposed thanks to David M for his impeccable organisation of the event. Thanks also went to Robert and his electric bicycle for surveying the course ahead of time, including the muddy bits. Pat said we should thank Margaret for rising from her bed of sickness to come and help out. It was commented that the reason the schools are happy to take part is because they know they can rely our us being well organised. Apparently, the children enjoyed themselves, and were all dry by the time they got back to school.
Andrew B mentioned an invitation from Shelterbox to attend an event in London to find out more about what they do. There will be a display of tents and equipment. Andrew and Pat will attend.
Social / Fundraising: There was some checking of last minute arrangements for the Spring Quiz Night this Saturday 1st April. Pat asked if there were any more potential raffle prizes to come? If we have too many for this event, we can always bank some for the Autumn quiz. Nick has the table cloths. Lesley will get nibbles for the quizmasters. Nick has keys for opening up the hall. Dave C said that if there is ever a problem, he also has keys if needed.
Presentation Breakfast: This is when teachers and students from the W4W participating schools join us for breakfast. The schools and one or two start fund raisers among the students will be presented with books as prizes. This be will on Thursday 15th June.
Any Other Business: Pippa, our Almoner, went to see David B in the week. He isn't very well at present. He sends his regards to the club. Unfortunately David and Anne's much-loved dog is also very poorly as well. Pippa praised the help Pete and Wendy give to David and Anne.
Sue said that she has had and offer on her house - but she doesn't have anywhere to go to yet.
Iain Millet is said to have sold his house. He has been poorly lately
Greetings from Other Clubs: Chris said that he noticed a Rotary plaque on the wall of his hotel in Osaka.
Raffle: Was won by Sue.
Master-at-Arms: In nick's absence, Godfrey fined all and sundry.
Final Toast: Andrew B
