Business: Lesley sent best wishes on behalf of the club to David K whose wife is ill.
Last week, Kathy and Lesley attended a meeting of community organisations about Ukraine. There were approximately 100 attended, including a number of potential hosts for refugees. Whitstable Rotary have passed on a link for donations. There is a Facebook page - Whitstable Welcome Network. Lesley has offered our help when needed. There is a need for counsellors, and people who can teach English as a second language. We don’t know what material support refugees will need when they arrive. Hilary said that one need will probably e for women’s toiletries. There have been lots of clothes etc already donated; future donations should be cash. Spyros said that Cyprus has taken 3000 refugees which rather shames the niggardly response so far from the UK government.
In Godfrey’s absence, Paul is organising the car parking this Sunday. Paul said the numbers of volunteers is tight but doable. Any extra help particularly in the middle of the day would be appreciated. Everyone note: the change to British Summer Time is this weekend.
There is now a confirmed date for TWAM – 30th April 2022. Volunteers are needed for this, including the 11.30am to 13.00pm shift.
Lesley reminded everyone that 26th May is the AGM and social evening at the Plough.
Walk4Water is tomorrow. Volunteers should meet at 09.00am for instructions and to collect a tabard. David M confirmed that the allocated parking spaces will be coned off. Lunch afterwards will be at the Royal Oak, Blean.
Any Other Business: Lesley said that district have confirmed that our two grant applications have been successful, for the ladies football and the Over-60’s dishwasher. David M will send them instructions in due course, so no-one else tell them yet.
Andrew B said that Loren, our global scholar, is coming to the Quiz Night. She will be on her own this time. Note: the Spring Quiz Night is already booked for next Year: 1st April 2023.
