This is a regular event we do around this time each year and are very grateful to the residents of Chestfield who give so generously to those of us who need a little extra support and help over the Christmas period.
We collect all kinds of food and soft drinks (in date items only please - no alcohol) as well as clean warm clothing / bedding items that we then distribute to a variety of local individuals and other Charitable organisations to support them over Christmas and New Year.
We dropped a leaflet through the doors of the homes we are to collect from on 14th December 2014 to explain a bit more about the organisation on the day during the week before collection.
And of course Father Christmas and his Elf were on hand to say a hello to the children and have photos taken with parents permission!
The response was fantastic and we have now distributed the food to local families and individuals in need of support with the rest of the food and clothing going to Catching Lives in Canterbury who were very grateful for everyone's generosity. Some money donated was used to purchase food for Canterbury Food Bank who also do great work this time of year. Most of the collections came from residents in roads below, but other residents dropped off items for us at Village Green.
Primrose Way / Laxton Way / Ellison Close / The Leas / Green Leas / Fairlawn / Polo Way / Beechcroft / The Russetts / The Ridings / Longacre / Share and Coulter Road.
