Pete’s week
- A visit to M&S gave Pete a birthday box of Belgian chocolates.
- 830,000 steps and counting
- Visited the Heron for Yvonne’s last day. Rumour has it the Rising Sun ‘s owners
are taking the pub on.
Treasurer
- Finances are in the black.
- The new banner was agreed for manufacture,Pete has donated a suitable
container.
- Golf day - final evening meal numbers were confirmed. Sponsorship is covered.
Raffle prizes are still needed - next Thursday at the latest.
- Banners and flags are needed by next Thursday.
- District grant application information to David by mid September.
Foundation
- Pete has received information on the funding raised within Rotary in 2025/6.
Membership
1
- Sarah joined a zoom call on Rotary and Rotoract. She told us there is a real push
on Club experience. Dual membership is now acceptable. Clubs were asked to
look at their best year for new members and aim to match it! A number of ideas
and plans were discussed.
- Sarah is joining a membership workshop on Saturday.
- Still nothing from Sainsbury’s.
Humanitarian
- Becky Turner Knowles from MacMillan will be speaking to us next week.
- Someone from the Horsebridge will be speaking to us about their work with
children on 8/10.
- A representative from Food Friends will be joining us on 27/10.
- The Christmas Toy box appeal donation was agreed by the club, providing 10
boxes with a request for those to be distributed in the Canterbury Refuge.
Fundraising
- Car parking 27/09, will be 10am start.
Social
- Kathy and Kevin’s film night was very enjoyable. Andrew B commented that he
felt it was a poor show that few members of either Rotary Club attended.
- The wine tasting has been cancelled due to a low take up.
AOB
- Pete received some information from a Rotarian in Haiti offering a virtual
presentation on the eye care offered. It was felt it would be a a challenge to
manage so declined.
- The District Volunteer Centre want to come and talk to the club about an
afternoon tea club they have started for isolated elderly residents at Age
Concern. Information will be forwarded by email..
Raffle Andrew B won chocolates.
Master at Arms
- Dave explained the concept to Nick.

- Fines we awarded for: coming armed to meetings, rude vegetables, changing
handbags - empathy, creating chaos, being rasher than usual, telling porkies and
telephone ringing.
- Dave then gave us an ode to the poor!
Final toast given by Lesley.
Evening meal menu will be circulated by Robert.
Next weeks meeting is a speaker meeting on 10/09 7.30 for 8am at the
Monument. Hopefully we’ll welcome Nick back.
