Breakfast meeting
No apologies. No guests. No birthdays. A full house.
Pete’s week
- Board meeting yesterday, a succinct event to ensure we could enjoy
the eclipse. Some people enjoyed it, others a tad sceptical. Board
meeting notes will be circulated with these notes.
- Weightloss now 15lbs.
- Step achievement to date - 540,000.
- Breakfast was then ready and Pete exposed his ‘the eggs are readyshirt’,
hilarious
Paul gave grace and breakfast was partaken by most.
Treasurer
- £7109 has been given to good causes so far in Pete’s year.
- Since the club was formed over £500,000 has been given to an assortment of
charities and groups.
Fundraising
- Harbour day has been well organised by Godfrey and David. They will set up with
Andrew B. There a two competitions this year: Splat the rat and a cycling
competition.
- Golf day 11/09 - 12 teams signed up. Still need 3 sponsors, if you know of any
business or individual who might like to sponsor please ask.
Social
- Pete’s garden party 20/08, 2pm onwards. Please bring a chair. Soft drinks, hot
and cold will be available, BYO alcohol. Various members bringing goodies to
add to Wendy and Pete’s spread. Please park smartly, hopefully there won’t be a
bowling match on!

- Film night 28/08 - Kathy and Kevin are hosting a film night, including a hot meal
(£5 a head). Please bring seats and drinks. Whitstable Rotary are invited as well.

Greetings from other Clubs
- Pete brought greetings from Martin Wingrove, Herne Bay rotary.
AOB
- Godfrey proposed a speaker from the Dancing Eye Syndrome charity.
- A speaker from Macmillan is joining us on 10/09.
- Lesley will arrange for Food Friends to come and give us an update on their much
expanded charity.
- Sue will give Lamberhurst farm cheese makers the choices of Wednesdays in
October for our visit. They have a maximum of 15 on each tour. If there is enough
interest two visits could be arranged.
- Stuart Neame from Herne Bay Rotary has donated £100 to Pete’s charities as a
thank you for help at BayFest.
Raffle another win for David M.
Master at Arms
- Fines were awarded for various issues including: an eggsellent T-shirt, cooler
slots at car parking, not giving a sheet, overgrown Cub Scout, blessed are the
cheese makers; Sue, Sue, Sue, and a cross fine for twins!
- Dave then regaled us with a ditty about a party and a cucumber - don't ask!
