Breakfast meeting

Pete’s week
- We had two social events in the past week. A very enjoyable trip to Brogdale with
lots of information on fruit tree propagation and care, followed by a delightful
cream tea - is it cream or jam first? Dave and Diane’s beach party was a success
too, with at least one barge being seen nearby!
- Pete attended Herne Bay Rotary meeting yesterday to find out what assistance
was needed at BayFest on Sunday.
- The club received an email from District regarding a number of issues including
under GDPR utilising bcc when sending group emails.
- Pete has lost 11lb since starting his 65@65 journey and his walk for diabetes step
target has been increased to 1000000 as his step achievement is accumulating
rapidly 

Guardian Angels
- Chris started the charity about 17 years ago. On average the charity rescues 200
dogs every year but the numbers of dogs needing rescuing is increasing. The
charity works closely with the Dogs Trust
- Very sadly most dogs are found in awful situations, but also as a result of deaths
or divorces and 100s of healthy dogs are being euthanised. Chris is always
seeking foster parents for dogs while seeking new homes for them.
- Chris relies very much on her amazing volunteers and foster parents. They have
two outlets in Herne Bay, a very successful charity shop and a venue for

administration and grooming. Chris offers grooming for dogs who other groomers
refuse to groom due to behavioural issues.
- They host a number of fundraising events including boot fairs, also hold a Dog
show, the next will be held in September/October.
- They have a Facebook page.
- Pete thanked Chris, and told the club that both his pups were adopted from
Guardian Angels.
Treasurer
- David, on the back of the recent district email, advised the club about on line
security , being careful about group email as and social media.
International
- Walk for Water funds have now been allocated to a primary school in Kenya.
Fundraising
- Harbour day 15/08 shifts are covered, Godfrey will circulate rota nearer the time.
- Presidents garden party 20/08.
- Golf day 11/09 - still need sponsorship and we have room for a few more teams.
- Wine tasting at Brenley farm 15/09 1pm £25.
Greetings from other clubs
- Pete brought greetings from Herne Bay.
AOB
- Deborah thanked the club for the flowers and support following the death of her
mother and the warm welcome given to her father at recent events.
- Godfrey brought thanks from Sharon for her flowers sent following her recent
surgery.
Raffle was won by Pete, a nice bottle of white wine.
Master at Arms
- Dave fined a number of the club for alleged misdemeanours including holding
hands, mandolin, fiddling gas meters with magnets and playing cards, not giving
a fig, discriminatory descriptions and not getting the right book to the right
schools!

- Dave then told us a poem about a little Scottie dog and his bottie.
