Breakfast
Apologies
- Andrew M, David K, Jean, Ronan, Sue, Deborah, Godfrey.
- Sadly Deborah’s mother died this week, however the family hope to join us this
afternoon for the Afternoon tea. Our thoughts are with Deborah.
Grace given by Paul, followed by breakfast.
Bayfest
- Herne Bay Rotary would welcome some help on 2/08 if you can do a shift please
email Pete.
Santa float
- We are a towing vehicle less this year so need to find someone with a tow bar
able to help us out. Gerry may be able to find a solution. This needs sorting by
the end of August to ensure the cards and publicity reflects what we will do.
Treasurer
- David thanked everyone for their subs payments, now all paid to district.
- Following Emma Slade’s visit to the club Andrew has drawn up a district grant
bid. The club agreed to a £750 donation from club funds.
- David reminded everyone that he had sent out details of this change in an email
at the end of June, asking for comments. We do need to ensure we read emails,
and that includes me as I had missed this too!
- Walk for water - final sponsorship has been collected making the total over
£3000. There are a number of projects the money can go towards so Andrew and
the International committee will look at these.
Humanitarian
- The Committee will meet after next week’s breakfast meeting.
- Gardening at the Whitstable and Tankerton hospital will be on 12/09 9am, Robert
will put a sheet in the Events folder.

Fundraising
- Tuesday’s car parking was very quiet. David will let us know the total.
- Further car parking sessions are on 3/08 and 22/08.
Social
- Brogdale afternoon tea today, 12.30 arrival.
- Barge race, Saturday 25/07, Dave and Diane have offered their beach hut as a
venue (no 154 British racing green. Near the red shelter and Westhill Road). BYO
chairs, nibbles, etc. Tea and coffee will be available.
- President’s garden party 20/08. Food requirements will be put in the events folder
soon.
- Wine tasting at Brenley Farm - tbc.
AOB
- Anne has received another acknowledgement of her many years of fundraising for
the British Legion, highlighted in the local News free magazine.
- Spyros has a marrow on offer.
- Kathy saw Phil Lennard and John Bishop in the week. Both former members and
presidents of the club.
Raffle won by Pete, a bottle of white wine.
Master at Arms
- Fines were issued for being half here and half not, being a coffee enthusiast, no
Rotary badge, living or not in Twiddle and atrocious parking!
- Dave then regaled us with a poem about tandoori and flies!
Final toast from Dave, acknowledging us as a bubbly, friendly group.
Next meeting 30/07 7.30 for 8am at the Monument, Christine Recton from
Guardian Angels will be here to tell us about the work of the charity.
