Endeavour Trophy

An award to recognise a McLaren High School pupil who, during the previous 12 months, has had to show incredible commitment to overcome a variety of obstacles in order to achieve their results or progress at school.

Each year McLaren High School holds an awards ceremony to recognise the fantastic achievements of it's pupils across a wide array of disciplines and activities.

A few years ago, our Rotary Club felt there was space for one more, slightly different award and we are grateful that McLareHigh School agreed.  Our Club created the award idea to recognise a pupil who, during the previous 12 months, had shown incredible commitment to overcome a variety of obstacles in order to achieve their results or progress at school.  Regardless of their academic level and background, the pupil will have demonstrated tenacity and drive to want to achieve the best they could possibly be.

To recognise this pupil each year the school will present the new "Rotary Award for Endeavour".  The journey each pupil will have made will be unique to them and we wanted to represent that in a unique and very personal award.  The Endeavour Trophy was hand crafted by one of our own Rotary members, Michael Kay, an ex teacher and also Silversmith (and now also a member of Emmock Farm Artists & Designers).  The award was inspired by an ancient Celtic symbol for strength and perseverance.  We are delighted with the result and honoured to support the pupil McLaren High School wish to recognise with this award each year.

In 2023, instead of a single person receiving the reward, it went to a group of five pupils.  These were the children of families who had fled war torn Ukraine and had ended up going to McLaren High School.  We can only imagine the terrors they suffered and the difficulty in adjusting to a new country.  These pupils have handled these obstacles very well and have flourished at McLaren High School.

The pupils' names are Yaroslav Kononenko, Daniil Nesterenko, Anna Shapovalova, Anastasiia Severina and Lev Shatalov.

The photo includes only four of the five pupils receiving the award, as the fifth was elsewhere at the time.  Also pictured are Peter Ireland, Senior Vice President and Youth Convenor of Rotary in Callander and Head Teacher, Marc Fleiming.
