'Coolness personified’ was how Richard Sharp, Head of Design & Technology at the Lakes School, described pupil Harry as he calmly entered the highly charged kitchen ahead of the finals of Young Chef 2024 Rotary’s National Cookery competition in Warwickshire.
Harry had seen off stiff competition in previous rounds and his place amongst the six elite chefs in attendance was well earned. After two hours of high level cooking the judges were not envied by anyone in their task of choosing a winner.
Sadly, it wasn't to be for Harry on this occasion. However, we learned that only four points separated the winner and sixth place which is a testament to the overall quality on display.
Everyone is incredibly proud of what Harry achieved and it was a pleasure and privilege for Ambleside Kirkstone to sponsor Harry, along with his family & school representative.
The future is looking very bright for Harry in the world of Hospitality and Catering. Head judge, Gordon Guthrie summed this up perfectly when he said he 'would employ Harry in a heartbeat'.
Well done Harry we are all very proud of you!
