As the club meets again in person the last couple of months have seen a positive move towards planning for future meetings and events.
Members gathered for an evening’s social Crown Green Bowling at the local bowling club. The rain held off and over a dozen members took part in a short knock out competition, ending with Tony and Ali being the eventual winners. Our thanks to the Bowls Club for a very warm welcome by Linda and Bernard.
This event was followed a couple of weeks later with members meeting at Ambleside Parish Centre for an evening of playing Rummikub. Despite the best efforts of those Rummikub newcomers to modify the rules to suit their winning capabilities, order was secured by those experienced players in attendance!
A number of members attended the community Afternoon Tea to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee. An afternoon of eclectic entertainment from various local groups raised the roof of APC with many asking to ‘do it all again next week!’
June ended with our annual Jacobs Join at Brathay Church Hall for our President’s Handover. A huge ‘thank you’ to President Val for her work over the last unprecedented couple of years. Charles has kindly agreed to take over the reins for 22/23 with Colin Thomson ready in the wings as President Elect.
It is very encouraging that the club has many ideas for future community and fund raising events and has restructured club meetings to reflect the need to move forward.
