With all Rotary meetings and events cancelled our monthly update is a good way to remind ourselves that AK is alive and kicking …………… albeit virtually.
We held a very successful zoom council meeting. The treasurer confirmed that £625.00 has been donated to the Foodbank which covers both Windermere and Ambleside district.
Later in the month we received a request for financial help towards a ‘Soup Delivery Project’ being coordinated by Bowness and Windermere Community Care Trust to which £250.00 has now been donated.
Ambleside Parish Centre continues to be the main hub for volunteers to help those self-isolating locally during the Coronavirus lockdown. Members in both Ambleside and Windermere are volunteering through existing self-help groups rather than reinventing the wheel and setting up a specific AK volunteering hub.
A new WhatsApp group has been established with a group of members virtually walking from the New Forest to Coniston – both homes of our regular Rotary friends Richard & Carole. The route and places of interest en route are recorded each day with members individual mileage admirably added by Colin.
It’s very encouraging to see our members keeping in contact via WhatsApp, email and phone conversations. Our AGM is planned as a virtual meeting via Zoom when we all look forward to seeing everyone on screen.
