Choirs raise the roof with fund-raising concert
Last Saturday the renowned award winning male voice choir, Cor Y Gyrlais, travelled from Ystradgynlais in the Swansea Valley once again to fundraise for Rotary Club of Royal Wootton Bassett Town charities. On this occasion they shared the stage with the fantastic and relatively local choir Cotswold Voices.
The concert, held in Royal Wootton Bassett s St Bartholomews Church, charmed the local audience that also comprised guests from further afield including Spain, Africa and the Philippines. They enjoyed a mixture of classic favourites and contemporary choices supported by the talents of accompanist Chris Lewis and the musical director of Cotswold Voices, Joe Moore. The evening also included the violin skills of Brian Hastie and the musical director of Cor Y Gyrlais, Huw Parkman, entertained with a selection of piano music.
Current Rotary President Ceri Pridding thanked all who had worked so hard to plan such a great event and for the generous proceeds that will boost Rotarys ability to support local, national and international causes.
