The annual match between the Swindon BATS (a Society for partially sighted folks) and the RWBTRC ended in a win for the BATS and the highest individual score by Sue Mead. Unusually for us, this was not a 'fund-raising event' but a way of meeting and having an evening of fun will visually challenged folks. However, anyone watching the antics of the Rotary bowlers would be forgiven for thinking that it was they who had the vision problems as we bowled 5 frames blinfolded in the first game and 5 games with special glasses (that simulated different visual problems) in the second. We will probably have a return match but of Skittles early next year but if history repeats itself, we shalln't do much better then. Still it is a great evening and we certainly gain an insight into the challenges facing visually challenged folks.
