We recently heard that the Rotary Club of Sandy were collecting unwanted candles for Ukraine.
We like to get involved with projects like this, where we can redirect something stored at the back of a cupboard, to a good cause who can make use of them.
We asked friends and colleagues to donated candles they no longer need, whether new or partly used. Watling Valley Ecumenical Partnership also shared our request and as well as individual donations, we received used candles no longer required by the churches.
We were overwhelmed with the donations we received, of candles in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
Unused candles will be passed straight on to be used, while used candles are melted down by a team of volunteers and the resulting wax is then combined to make new candles.
Dudley from Sandy Rotary picked them up from us and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of candles donated to us.
