If it’s August Bank Holiday weekend, then it’s highly likely you’ll find some of us at Northampton Shaleway enjoying a mix of stock car, banger racing finished off with a caravan destruction derby.
Picnics, chairs and rugs in hand, we settled in near the second corner and tucked into our picnics before the racing began.
The weather proved a little chillier than expected, but we soon kept warm dodging the lumps of shale thrown up by the stock cars. Little did we know that this was preferable to the dust created by the banger racing, no doubt a result of the very dry summer we have experienced. Luckily Helen R had brought along some wipes, which we put to good use after each race to remove a layer of dust from our faces and picnic bags.
