Emma's MITO Mission

Mitochondrial disease is progressive and can be life-limiting. We are pleased to have supported this research.

Mitochondrial Disease is a genetic disorder affecting the mitochondria - or mito for short.

They're the "battery packs" in each cell which then fail to make energy properly.

This causes fatigue and also damage to the body, especially the parts that need most energy like your major organs.

Mitochondrial disease is progressive and can be life-limiting. Currently there is no cure.

Although mitochondrial disease is quite rare, affecting 1 in around 4000 people.

Emma's Mito Mission was set up to aid research into this disease. This is a local charity which is supported by the Rotary Club of Brighouse. Emma Beal who lived in Rastrick, sadly died of this disease
