While Polio cases continue to fall and exist in only a small number of counties, there is still lots of effort required to finally eradicate this disease.

Rotary's key humanitarian project is to rid the world of polio. They spearheaded the campaign at a time when there were more than 1000 cases a day in 125 countries - today the number of cases is down by 99.9%.
Rotarary helps pay for immunisations and members of the club have had the opportunity to visit and help immunise those at risk. A "Purple Pinky" (a purple stamp on a childs little finger) is given to identifiy those who have had the vaccination.
We have planted purple Crocus blubs all around the Brighouse area to reflect the 'purple pinky'.
On World Polio Day 24th October 2024 we held a polio awareness day at Sainsburys, Brighouse. We provided some visual information showing the good work and successes achieved by Rotary worldwide over the years. We gave out 210 crocus lapel badges and received £130 in donations.

more Working with Halifax Rotary we distribute Shoeboxes to the schools in our area to be filled with gifts for those less fortunate.
