International Women's day

An evening of inspiring speakers to celebrate International Women's Day

A huge THANK YOU to our incredible speakers!

What a wonderful evening we had at Burghley Park Golf club.  Around 45 guests joined us for a delicious buffet and were truly inspired by four remarkable women who shared their stories, passion and expertise:

Miranda Rock - Director of Burghley House Preservation Trust: Preservation Trust, Miranda is employed to oversee the running of the House and Estate on behalf of the charity and its board of Trustees.  Miranda has a background in Art History, an MA from London University in Arts Policy and a passion for the history of the collections at Burghley House.  While maintaining the essential energy and spirit of family life at Burghley, she is tasked with continuing to explore new ways to diversify commercial activities across the Estate and to help sustain the community of Burghley and its environs.  She is a Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire and involved with local charities including Browne’s Hospital, Nene Valley Park Railway and Peterborough Area Down’s Syndrome Group.  She was a founding Trustee of T21 - a more personal project which established and runs the Birch Tree Café in Easton on the Hill benefitting a group of young adults with Down’s Syndrome including her son Cosmo.

Bunny Guinness - Bunny has been designing gardens and outdoor spaces for over 50 years. She gained an honours degree in horticulture from Reading University and then went on to qualify as a Landscape Architect at City of Birmingham University where she was awarded a doctorate. Her mainstream work has always been designing, she has won six gold medals from Chelsea Flower Show and worked on a huge range of schemes to parks and gardens in northern Japan, Thyme Hotel at Southrop, A Horatio’s Garden at Oswestry and many private gardens of a huge range of sizes

Suzanne Packer - has been an employment lawyer for over 25 years. She is the Global head of the Employment law team for Vialto Partners - (formerly part of PwC), which provides global mobility, tax and immigration services in 52 countries.   She spent 10 years at various city law firms before going in-house as an employment lawyer within companies, including BGC Cantor Fitzgerald in Canary Wharf as well as Warner Bros Discovery, London where she was the lead employment lawyer for Asia Pacific countries as well as for CNN in the UK.

Sam Roddan - Sam is a socially engaged artist and founder of Art Pop-Up, the multi-award-winning community arts organisation based in Stamford. Since 2011 she has led more than 50 people-powered projects spanning heritage, youth voice and creativity for wellbeing, positioning culture as a force for local change. APU was named one of the UK's top 10 civic arts organisations in 2022 by the prestigious Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Your warmth, insight and energy made the evening truly memorable; we are so grateful to each of you for giving your time to our club.

A big thank you also to all the gentlemen who joined us on the night; your presence and support means so much to our rotary club.

Events like this remind us why we do what we do, bringing people together, sharing ideas and making the community stronger.

Here's to many more inspiring evenings ahead.
