Ilkley Young Photographer of the Year

There are two competitions - one for photographers and one for artists. 

Are you a young person with an interest in art or photography ? 

Could you take a photograph that makes an arresting image ? 

Can you create an artwork that makes people stop and think ?

This is your chance to show your talent and perhaps win a substantial prize and go further into regional and national level competitions.

The 2024 Competitions

There are two competitions - one for photographers and one for artists. There are three age groups in each competition depending on your age as at :-

31st August 2024

• Junior -            Age  7 to 10
• Intermediate - Age 11 to 13
• Senior -            Age 14 to 17

2024 Competition Theme

This year the theme of both competitions is Wonderful Water 

When you submit an entry we will need the following information;

• Your Name
• School Attended
• Date of Birth
• Category - Junior, Intermediate, or Senior
• Email Address
• Contact phone number for parent/guardian/carer
• The Title of your Photograph/Artwork
• Plus - a brief sentence (50 words max) describing the relationship of your entry to the theme (wonderful water)

The more detailed rules of the competition are :

1. Any  Photograph must not include any people
2. Photographs must be taken digitally and entered as a digital attachment to the email address given above
3. There must be an accompanying sentence describing the relationship of the photo/artwork to the theme
4. The entrant must live in Wharfedale in the Ilkley area - between Addingham and Burley-in-Wharfedale (inclusive) or attend a school in the area
5. The parents of prize winners will be asked to complete a form giving us permission to use your photograph or artwork for Rotary promotional, publicity and other purposes without charge 
6. Winning entrants must also consent to their names being used in publicity 
7. Neighbouring Rotary clubs are also running these competitions - you can only make your entry to one of these local competitions.

If you are entering the photography competition then take your photo and make sure you are happy with it - only cropping and straightening allowed - no fancy photoshopping ! Email to youthcommiwrc@gmail.com

If you are entering the Art competition email us your details  to youthcommiwrc@gmail.com - we will collect your artwork from your school
