The Yellow Duck Race – for the general public
Tickets can only be sold to persons 16 years of age and older. Each ticket will cost £2. There are no discounts for bulk purchase. Tickets are not for Resale. Prizes for this race are as advertised.
The Red Duck Race – for Businesses
Tickets are available only to Business Owners – aged 16 and over. Each ticket will cost £50. There are no discounted ticket prices. The tickets are not for resale. The Prizes are as advertised.
All profits from the lottery will be used by the Rotary Club of Ilkley Wharfedale Charitable Trust (registered charity number 1072168) for the benefit of causes in Ilkley, the surrounding Wharfedale area and elsewhere.
Participation in the lottery can be made by purchase of one or more tickets from authorised vendors approved by RCIW. Each ticket is uniquely numbered, and that number corresponds to the number marked on a Duck taking part in the Race.
The Rotary Club of Ilkley Wharfedale accepts no responsibility for tickets which are lost, damaged, illegible, from which the prize-winner cannot be identified or for any technical failure or event which may cause the competition to be disrupted or corrupted. The Adjudicator’s (‘the Racemaster’) decision based on these Terms and Conditions will apply in all cases.
As soon as practicable after the event, participants with winning tickets will be notified by RCIW by email, telephone or post according to the contact details provided by the purchaser at the time of purchase. The winning tickets will also be announced at the close of the race event. The winning ticket numbers will be published on the RCIW public access website for a period of three months after the race has been held, and in all post-Race publicity.
If it is impractical to run the race as planned, because of river conditions or any other reason, the appointed Adjudicator (‘Racemaster’) can adjust the racecourse if necessary in length or location, or in some circumstances cancel the race. In the case of cancellation the Adjudicator will organise the selection (at random and in a public place) of the winning ticket numbers from all the ticket numbers that were to participate in the race.
To request a list of winning ticket numbers, please email the Race Promoter (details as above).
The result of the race, as declared by the Adjudicator, is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
Players should retain their allocated ticket/s and duck numbers as proof of purchase and may be asked to produce the ticket or proof of online purchase when claiming prizes.
Cash Prize money will be paid by Sterling cheque, either on the day of the Race, or arranged immediately following the race where the winner/s are not attending the Race. For the Red Duck race the prizes will be as advertised, and will be presented at a time and place as arranged between the winners and the Promoter.
Where the organiser is unable to contact a prize-winner so that a prize remains unclaimed for six months following the organiser’s first and repeat attempts to notify the prize-winner, the prize will be withdrawn and returned to RCIW funds.
By claiming and accepting a prize the players agree to publicity which will be carried out at the sole discretion of RCIW. All winners will be asked to co-operate in publicity about their win as appropriate.
In the event of an error, howsoever caused, whether electronic, printing error or otherwise and whether obvious or otherwise, which affects the competition in any way, the Adjudicator reserves the right to administer the lottery as though the error had not occurred. Where appropriate and/or feasible the Race Promoter will notify entrants of the error.
Failure to comply with any of these rules may result in the disqualification of an entry in the Duck Race lottery.
The Adjudicator reserves the right to disqualify any entry at their absolute discretion.
Please remember that as with any form of gambling, it should be done responsibly and help is available.
