Tonight we enjoyed being guests at Marlow Bowls Club, one of our town’s hidden gems. Their entrance is tucked away in the far left hand corner of the Court Gardens car park, but once you’re through the looking-glass it opens out into the delightful old walled gardens of Court Garden House, with an immaculate bowling green and excellent modern clubhouse, made all the more pleasant by beer at £3/pint (and ample sandwiches & snacks provided by our hosts).
We were warmly welcomed and introduced to the practical skills of bowling by an enthusiastic and friendly team from the club. I’m not quite sure of the result of the subsequent fun competition as there was too much competitive barracking and laughter to be absolutely clear, but it was a lovely way to spend a superb midsummer evening.
