We arranged two clear-up sessions at Spade Oak Nature Reserve supervised and managed by Chiltern Rangers. They provided tools, equipment and sympathetic training in clearing undergrowth, bushes and branches around the public footpaths. All we needed to bring were work gloves, suitable clothing and footwear.
Work in progress
In the first session we created a glade by coppicing willow in an area of even-aged and even-height habitat. Once it naturally regenerates there will be a bit of structural diversity.
Before and after
The first working party
The follow-up working party on 3rd February was to coppice some Hazel stools before they get too big and cutting back Buddleia that has been getting out of control.
