Rona 2022
This year Marlow Thames once again sponsored four youngsters to go on a week’s sailing experience with The Rona Sailing Project.
None of them had done anything like that before so there was the usual apprehension. Having said that the Rona skipper and his crew are familiar with that scenario, so they soon settled down to life aboard a 70-foot sailing yacht.
This year the weather was very kind to them, so they were able to sail to Dartmouth in the West Country and stopped at a few little harbour villages on the way. In between cooking and cleaning the yacht there was plenty of time to learn how to sail and call in to the Dorset and Devonshire bays for a swim over the side.
All of them said it was a life changing experience as not only did they learn to sail but it taught them about teamwork and working outside their comfort zone.

We may have been restricted but what we could do as Rotarians didn’t change. Since March 2020 the Club has stepped up to the mark helping people in need, fund raising and providing emotional support.

Rotary, with its 1.2 Million members worldwide, responded immediately and strongly to the Ukrainian Crisis and continues to do so

We supported this project of building a welfare centre in a remote mountain village. The centre has now had its official opening.
