Looking for an excuse to get out and about? Need some fresh air and exercise in socially-distanced and outdoor company? Do you like attacking things with axes and machetes? Good news – Marlow Thames Community Therapy Group is here to help you.
We arranged two clear-up sessions at Spade Oak Nature Reserve on 8th and 17th October, supervised and managed by Chiltern Rangers. They provide tools, equipment and sympathetic training in clearing undergrowth, bushes and branches around the public footpaths. All we needed to bring were work gloves, suitable clothing and footwear.
Despite a couple of very blustery showers that came through, the Club did a great job of widening the footpaths around Spade Oak Lake. When we started the path was dark with barely enough room for two people to pass each. Now it is easy to pass and there's a chance for a bit of sunshine to get to the path and hopefully dry it out a bit quicker.
While we were at it we even managed to make and put up three bird boxes.
