What Makes a Portrait Great

Speaker: Sandy Nairne who is a former Director of the National Portrait Gallery
As well as working with the Institute of Contemporary Arts and the Arts Council and much more, Sandy has written several books and is on the Bank of England Banknote Character Advisory Committee. His talk 'What Makes a Portrait Great' focussed on six portraits from the gallery illustrating how styles have changed from the time of Shakespeare to the present day. Spouses and friends were invited to join us for this event.

We may have been restricted but what we could do as Rotarians didn’t change. Since March 2020 the Club has stepped up to the mark helping people in need, fund raising and providing emotional support.
