Following the meeting and as part of our ongoing programme of engagement with small local charities that have received financial support from Marlow Thames Rotary Club, on October 10 we hosted a charities meeting in Marlow. It was attended by REMAP, Rivertime Boat Trust, Marlow Opportunities Playgroup, Headway South Bucks and PHAB Thames Valley. At a previous group meeting the charities had expressed a common concern over issues of volunteer recruitment and management, so the club arranged for a seminar presented by Hazel Finney and Carol Heap, of Community Impact Bucks. Their seminar triggered a lively discussion and debate and MTRC are very grateful to CIB for the time and trouble they took in preparing and running the event, with all the charities agreeing that the presentation and exchange of views was really useful. Further charity support events are planned, with best practice in fundraising being a possible future topic.
