20th Anniversary of the Club's Charter

Wed, Sep 13th 2017 at 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Seventy two Rotarians including guests from the clubs of Marlow, Marlow Bridge, Cookham Bridge, Misbourne Matins, Oxford Spires and Kungsbacka (Sweden) joined us to celebrate this milestone in the life of the Club.

David Miller recounted the early days of the Marlow Thames Club whilst other past-presidents Fiona Rhodes, David Sutherland, Jane Fowler, David Simpson, Mike Cannon and Steve Berry gave cameos which painted a picture of the club’s ethos and achievements. Santa’s Fun Run, Children In Need, Burns Night, and the wives and girlfriends trips (WAGS) all got special mention, amongst many others. John Prout commented "On the anniversary of this great club I feel a bit like a fraud. I had a brief flirtation with the club in 2001 and 2002, then left and re-joined in 2014. I am pleased to say I was made very welcome on my return. I think this is a very special club - very informal, friendly, driven by the right values and most of all - full of very nice people.”

The event was held at Flackwell Heath Golf Club.  Following the after-dinner speakers members were entertained by the 'Limelight' jazz trio.
