Backpack Project – Suggested Food Items

The project was initially intended to provide a backpack of food to any child in the school who is in danger of going hungry over the weekend. Backpacks include three evening meals, two lunches and three breakfast, plus a few treats.

The aim is to provide food that is simple to prepare with minimal equipment and that can be prepared by the child for themselves. The backpacks need to be prepared in advance and stored in readiness for when they are needed, so fresh and chilled items cannot be included.

The school have asked us if we would temporarily provide some items for children in danger of having no lunch, since not all pupils are eligible for school meals and the school canteen remains closed because of Covid-19.

For September, we are particularly looking for food for lunches.

Thank you for supporting our project.
