Virginia - The Body-Mind Connection

The email below is from Mary Doyle, Head of Services at Mind Daventry and it provides a background for the talk that Nick Tite and Sheila Mears Robson will give to the Club.

From Mary Doyle, Head of Mind Services.

I found the letter I sent to Neil and your colleagues of the Rotary back in Feb saying, that we would like some funds to help us continue our course work called the Freedom programme, for people in or fleeing Domestic Abuse situations.

We received £600 from yourselves and started to run the Freedom Programme but we didn't have the opportunity to complete this because of Lockdown.

We have now just started again this week; we can only support 5 people at a time because of social distancing, and groups of 6, this will be run over 11 weeks, plus course materials and staff hours this will cost £10 per person x 11 weeks = £550

The amount given was £600 and what we would like to do with what's left over put this toward some advertising items for our poetry book launch, this has been produced by our service users through one of our interest groups called Expressive Words, we have found a publisher and it is now ready to go to print to be sold to raise money for Mind Daventry and raise awareness of Mental Health.

I have spoken to Nick and Sheila about doing a short presentation at your next Zoom meeting and they are happy to do this for you. Sheila can explain more about the Freedom Programme and Nick/Sheila could bring you up to date with the Poetry book and how this came about and also talk about fundraising opportunities to support the Daventry community.
