In 2012 Milton Keynes hosted a marathon for the first time and has held it every year since. This is a fantastic city event, which takes full advantage of the parklands and paths of the city, which are one if its hidden jewels, to take runners around the 26 mile course. Whilst the first run took place at the end of April, in recent years it has been held on the May Day bank holiday and regularly attracts thousands of runners.
As a club we are glad to help with community events such as this, and every year since the start we have taken responsibilty for manning ydration station at mile 21. Around 15 to 20 club members, family and friends turn out to hand out water and energy drinks to runners and cheer them on, as well as clearing up afterwards.
This is a great way for us to help the running of this event.
