Vocational / Youth Service

The Vocational / Youth Service Committee for the year 2014/15 comprises myself as Chair, Nicol Proctor as Vice Chair, Leslie Roger, Nitika Talwar and Stewart Mitchell. We propose to carry on with the successful activities of previous years.

The Committee will continue to support and organise the 2014 Primary School Quiz involving the Bridge of Don schools. We will again require assistance from members experienced in the event and look forward to their continued support.

We will select two candidates for the RYLA Camp Project from our local Secondary Schools and other youth organisations for the 2014 camp.

We will look at the possibility of establishing Rotakids within one of the local Primary Schools, probably Braehead and we will, once again, ask the school to support the Rotary Christmas Shoe Box appeal.

The Rotary GB&I Young Photographer competition may be an opportunity to gain some publicity for our club. Our involvement is fairly minimal and only requires us to get the schools and youth organisations involved in promoting the competition to pupils and members. The competition is open to students aged 7

RYLA

more RYLA is an outdoor education opportunity for school-age children, organised by Rotary. In 2014, the Rotary Club of Aberdeen Balgownie sponsored two young people to attend the camp, held at the Abernethy Centre, Aviemore.
