BRIDGE OF DON PRIMARY SCHOOL QUIZ 2020

All seven primary schools within the catchment area competed in a quiz organised by the Rotary Club of Aberdeen Balgownie. All entries were presented with certificates and sweets while the winners, Glashieburn Primary received a trophy.

TYREBAGGER COLLECTIONS 2019

Rotarians and other volunteers helped to marshal the customer parking for the Forestry Commission's Christmas tree sales at Tyrebagger Forest. A Santa's grotto was provided for the children and a substantial sum was raised for local charities.

Litter Pick at Westfield Park May 2021

Rotarians assist the Friends of Westfield Park to clean up litter. Our members accounted for five of the twenty bags collected on the day. Alex's dog, Toran, discovered a tennis ball.

Westfield Park Fence Work

Continuing our previous participation with the Friends of Westfield Park, removing old collapsed wire fencing which presents a hazard to park users.

DANESTONE GALA

The Rotary Club of Aberdeen Balgownie were at the Danestone Gala on Saturday 6th July. We are a local group of volunteers who raise money for charity and help local community groups. We ran a "Guess the Teddy's Birthday" competition to raise money.

KIDS OUT

An annual fun day out for children of special needs. Rotary members from Aberdeen Rotary clubs assist.

Several members paid a visit to Drum Castle, owned by the National Trust for Scotland. We were joined by former member Erik Stien who, together with his wife Elisabeth, carries out volunteer work in the gardens at Drum on a fortnightly basis.

RYLA is an outdoor education opportunity for school-age children, organised by Rotary. In 2014, the Rotary Club of Aberdeen Balgownie sponsored two young people to attend the camp, held at the Abernethy Centre, Aviemore.

Nagasaki Friendship Visit

A delegation from the Japanese city of Nagasaki, led by the Mayor and including the President of Nagasaki Rotary Club, paid a visit to Aberdeen during October 2010. Balgownie Rotary Club has played a major part in the links between our two cities.

Sandwalk 2009

Seven-mile sponsored walk along the beach north of Aberdeen. Organised by Balgownie and Ellon Rotarians. As of 30 September the proceeds stood at 6350 pounds.

2010 Primary School Quiz

A national Rotary-sponsored contest to win a top prize of £1000 for their school. Seven primary school teams from Bridge of Don battled it out at a well- attended evening in Oldmachar Academy on Wednesday 17 March.
