On Friday 15th March, teams from ten local primary schools (Annick, Castlepark, Dreghorn, Elderbank, Glebe, Lawthorn, St John Ogilvie, St Mark’s, Springside and Woodlands) took part in the Rotary Primary School Quiz organised by Seagate Rotary Club.
This year’s competition was held at Fullarton Community Hub and in a closely fought contest Springside Primary emerged as the winners from Glebe Primary, with Annick Primary finishing third. This was the first time that Springside have won the competition.
The Quiz is aimed at Primary 7 pupils who compete in teams of four. There are ten rounds of six questions each, covering General Knowledge and a variety of other topics. Springside’s winning team will now represent Irvine in the Rotary Ayrshire Area Final in May.
Hugh Hutchison President of Seagate Rotary, presenting the prizes, congratulated all the teams and said: “It was a great competition and every team performed really well. The youngsters have shown how talented and inquisitive young people they are, and every school should be proud of their pupils.”
