ToyLikeMe

ToyLikeMe is a York-based community-interest company which encourages and influences toy manufacturers to consider disability when designing their products.

Founded in York city some years ago, it has encouraged industry awareness of the need to represent disability. Rotary York Ainsty has previously supported the initiative by funding the distribution of a number of dolls via the Lollipop charity (which assists deaf children). These dolls exhibited outward signs of hearing disability.

Historically RYA has supported ToyLikeMe’s latest initiative to provide toy boxes in five York primary schools. The toy boxes contain toys displaying disability and appropriate sensory objects. The RYA funding will enable the purchase of a box for a local school and this will be acknowledged on the box.

This initiative is just the latest in a long line of community-based projects undertaken by Rotary York Ainsty (RYA) in the area. Others include help and support for Door 84 Centre for Youth, SpecSort, York Cancer Care Garden, York Master Boxing Club, and many, many more. Details of any of these projects can be obtained from the contact details below or by accessing the RYA web pages… www.Rotary-York-Ainsty.UK

"This project illustrates everything that is good at the heart of Rotary. We are supporting what is a great initiative designed to assist those in the community that require it - Working In The Community - For The Community,” said Rotary York Ainsty past president Martin Simpson.
