York Masters Boxing Club

Rotary York Ainsty is getting its gloves on to assist a community boxing club in the city.

The York Masters Boxing Club, based in Redeness Street premises, were faced with a funding shortfall following the withdrawal of their main sponsor. The club provides opportunities for fitness training, learning boxing techniques and develops discipline, focus and social kills amongst its members.

Rotary York Ainsty was approached following on from its support of other Salvation Army initiatives. The Salvation Army has given support to the boxing club during recent months as a number of their current clients also utilise the York Masters facilities. Following the approach, RYA agreed to grant aid the club to the tune of £300 for the current year as part of its on-going community support during the current Covid-19 pandemic.

This initiative is just the latest in a long line of community-based projects undertaken by Rotary York Ainsty (RYA) in the area. Social Activities 2023-24

RYA have an active social program, usually held during the first week of the month in place of the traditional club meeting. This is open to relatives, friends and anyone interested in Rotary.
