Our 5th Annual Charity Swimathon was held on Sunday 7th July 2019. A huge thank you to all of the teams who participated with 61 swimmers of all ages and abilities completing a total of 2128 lengths of the pool at the Washington Leisure Centre to raise funds for 'FACT Cancer Support' and many other great causes.

Our appreciation also goes to the management and staff at the 'Everyone Active' Washington Leisure Centre' for their co-operation and assistance. Teams of between four and six swimmers were allocated a swimming lane for 30 minutes. It was a fun and friendly event with participants enjoying their swim and completing the number of lengths they were comfortable with - all in the knowledge that money being raised would be for very worthwhile causes.
On Friday 18th October 2019, at the Nissan Sports and Leisure Complex, cheque presentations for the Swimathon were made during our Race Night. Brian Smith from FACT Cancer Support was present to receive a donation of £2250.00.
Thanks to all the teams and swimmers who participated in this year's Swimathon and who raised funds for FACT; their own chosen charities; and for future Rotary Initiatives. Amongst the many other causes supported this year were 'Action on Dementia, Sunderland'; 'Pseuomxoma Research'; 'British Scoliosis Research Foundation'; and 'The Brain Tumour Charity'.
