Freda Brennan was the scriptwriter of our 'Down The Tubes' show held in November 2018. She has devoted a significant amount of her lifetime to help and develop countless children in the area of musical stage. Many have gone on to study music and drama, and others now enjoy musical careers in the West End. Others now teach music and drama themselves.
With her long association with the Fatfield Junior Operatic Society and The Rainbow Youth Theatre, every Sunday, Freda has brought together children from the age of 8 years and above, to teach them in the arts of singing, dancing and acting. They have performed many shows and concerts for our own community in Washington, and have even showcased their talents abroad.
Freda has acted as a chaperone for ITV and BBC whilst they filmed the likes of 'Vera' and George Gently' here in the North-East. She has also performed this role at many theatres around the Country, including the Theatre Royal, Newcastle, and the Sunderland Empire.
To mark her dedication, time and effort with this work over many years, and achievements that support the causes and principles of Rotary in our community, Washington Forge Rotary was delighted to present Freda with a Paul Harris Fellow Award, the highest form of recognition given by Rotary.
At the end of the 'Down The Tubes' evening show, Rotary North-East District Governor Stewart Atkin kindly made the presentation on behalf of the club.
A worthy recipient and well deserved. #betheinspiration
