Rotarian Firefighter part of the team winning the 'Local Hero' Award

The Sunderland Echo 'Best of Wearside' Awards evening was held at The Stadium of Light today. The 'Local Hero' Award was presented to Blue Watch of the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service based at Marley Park Fire Station. This was for the rescue of 18 months old Miles McBurnie from a fire at his home in December last year. Congratulations to Washington Forge Rotarian - Crew Manager Ronnie Monaghan and his team whose bravery and professionalism saved Miles. The actions of everyone involved at the incident in Witherwack that night are commendable and the award is so well deserved. We are proud of you all.
