Washington Forge Rotary joined with members and former members of The Rainbow Youth Theatre and Fatfield Musical Stage Society, members of the community, to present 'Down The Tubes'. This is a story of families in London during World War 2 who faced the horrors of 'The Blitz' and who experienced the shortages of food and clothing that war can bring. It shows how people bonded together to keep up morale and the determination of all those who kept 'The home fires burning'.
The production contained many songs that you will recognise, including some originally from the time of WW1, which was appropriate during this year of commemoration of the centenary of the end of 'The Great War'.
Shows were held at The Harraton Community Centre, Washington on Sunday 18th November 2018, at 2.00pm and 6.30pm.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support the shows. We do hope that you enjoyed your afternoon or evening and participated in the singalong.
Washington Forge Rotary is indebted to so many people who volunteered to take part in the production. The cast, backroom staff, front of house personnel, and the band members - all part of a dedicated team who gave up their time to ensure that the show took to the stage. A very well done to you all.
We are grateful to Freda Brennan who wrote the 'Down The Tubes' script; to the Show Director, Stephanie Corbett; Musical Director, Katrina Wake, and to 'Signature Times Photography' for providing us with the images.
