Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance
President John Riley introduced Jon and Jan, who proceeded to provide an update on the latest developments in the air ambulance service.
Jon highlighted the collaboration with rapid response vehicles, now equipped with three professional doctors who can quickly assess and aid the injured. Additionally, volunteer CPR personnel have been recruited in various areas to initiate recovery efforts before the ambulance arrives.
Jon shared statistics on the cost of air ambulance operations, which now amount to £3,000 per dispatch, along with the increasing number of monthly emergency calls.
Jan then discussed the role of volunteer nurses in assisting individuals in recovery and reconstructing the events surrounding their accidents. The team now comprises five dedicated nurses.
Following the informative session, a Q&A session took place.
President John Riley expressed his appreciation to Jon and Jan, announcing that the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance would be one of his supported charities for the upcoming year.
John Clegg then presented the DSAA with a generous donation of £1500 on behalf of his chosen charity.
