Rotary Takes Centre Stage at Melplash Show

Brit Valley Rotary was out in force at the Melplash Show on 27th August – and what a great day it turned out to be!

Our Rotary stand was busy throughout the day as members chatted with visitors, answered questions and, most importantly, told people about the difference Rotary makes in our local community and around the world.

It wasn’t just the show day that kept our members busy! Setting up and taking everything down turned into a couple of hard-working days, and a huge thank you goes to everyone who gave up their time to make our presence at the show such a success.

Visitors showed plenty of interest, with several people stopping to learn more about Brit Valley Rotary, what we do, and how they could get involved. It was also a great opportunity to explain some of the many local and international good causes that benefit from the money we raise throughout the year.

We were especially pleased to have District Governor Mike Kew with us for the whole duration of the show. Mike threw himself into the day, helping promote Rotary and chatting with visitors about the work our club and Rotary across the District are doing.

We were also delighted to welcome President Charlotte from the Rotary Club of Poundbury Dorchester, who joined us during the day and was given a very warm Brit Valley welcome.

Making Connections – and Making a Difference

Events such as Melplash are a fantastic way for Brit Valley Rotary to get out into the community, meet new people and showcase the opportunities that Rotary offers.

Who knows, among the many conversations we had during the day, we may even have met some of our future Rotary members!

For now, though, we can look back on a very successful day – and once again say a massive thank you to all our members and friends who helped with the preparation, manning the stand and clearing everything away.
