Club member and world tripper Mike Robinson and his wife Vivienne were recently saying in Penang and took the opportunity to visit the hospital on the 27th of February 2025.
In 2018 Jane Ollier, daughter of a Lincoln Colonia Rotarian, was badly injured when she was riding her bike in Sungai Petani. Taken to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital, she recieved outstanding care and fully recovered. To acknowledge this, the families, the Lindum Lincoln, and Lincoln Colonia clubs and distric 1070 provided £6,000 to refurbish the hopital's Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Department's. Locally the project was managed by the local Rotary Club of Bandar Sugai Petani, led by President Dr Bernard Kai Hong.
Mike Robinson wished to express in his own words the impact of this visit made on him: -
'Our visit was unforgetable given the warmth of the reception and the programme that was organised for us. Led by the Orthopaedic the Surgeon and the involvement of many of the staff, includingthe CEO. We were given a full tour to understandhow much the patients had benifitted from the project. We talked with the local Rotarians, including the Distric Governor, exchanged speeches and given refreshments and gifts. It was esimated that one of the hydraulic couches has been used half a million times since installed. The visit was recorded by the hospital and the below photographs tell the story: -
