The club supports many international projects some of which originate within Rotary and others through contact with specific overseas organisations.
Rotary's largest project has been to try, along with the United Nations and World Health Organisations and more recently the Bill Gates Foundation, to eradicate polio. We have almost achieved this. Polio is now only endemic in Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
To learn more about Rotary's work on polio see Rotary's End Polio Now website.
The Frome Selwood Rotary Club also supports two separate organisations that were created by Rotary Clubs in GB & Ireland but now operate as independent charities, though both retain very strong connections to their founding Rotary Clubs/ Rotary: WorldWater Works and Shelterbox.
Recently, the Club has developed a relationship with the Rotary Club of Dhulikhel in Nepal which has enabled us to support several projects in Nepal such as food supply during the pandemic and empowering women through helping them set up businesses.
