Borderland Rotary Club have been very busy with the MacMillan coffee morning raising £1,000 for this wonderful charity, donating £1,000 to Shelterbox for the Nepal appeal, and a whole raft of activities to help Shropshire Supports Ukraine.
Harry Richardson, who organised the coffee morning said, “It’s a great club event for a great charity, we all know people who have suffered from cancer and there were at least three cancer survivors on the stall that day. Of course, we couldn’t do it without the help of Sean Evans from the Sweeney Hotel who supplied delicious muffins and Lynne with her Mean Bean Coffee Machine van supplying the coffee. I’m very grateful to everyone who joined us for coffee and made it such a pleasant and successful day”.
International chair Andy Boroughs said, “The Nepal flooding disaster seems to have fallen off the headlines – overtaken by people with louder voices – but Shelterbox, the British disaster charity is out there making a difference and we’re happy we can help them on their way”.
Borderland have been helping Shropshire Supports Ukraine since the war started and have supplied six generators and much more. They have also teamed up with a Rotary Club on the Isle of Man to build larger lump sums that can be used to better effect.
Andy continued, “We are now looking for a cheap or donated van for use in the Uk to collect and deliver donated equipment to the Ukraine base in Shropshire, ready to be shipped out in one of the regular deliveries. If you can help, please get in touch via email to borderlandrotary@gmail.com ”.
