19/03/26-The LONG ACRE ARTS CHARITY– Paul O’Neil

Tonight’s speaker Paul, recently retired from the NHS and has become a Trustee of the Jan Parnham Trust.

Jan is a lady who has lived in Bingham and has owned the Arts Centre on Main Rd for a number of years. The Centre was originally built as a school in 1841 and has had various uses over the years mainly to do with art in some way including being used as a cinema, art gallery, creative centre, a picture framing facility and a Spiritual Church!

In 2024 Jan decided to renovate the building and then donate it through a Trust to the people of Bingham for use as an arts and wellbeing Community Centre.

The Long Acre Arts Centre opened in June 2025 as a fully refurbished facility which provides a whole range of opportunities including

  • Artist led workshops                · Regular Art & Craft Groups
  • Live Theatre                                  · Chess
  • Movie Nights                                · Mood & Food
  • Live Music                                     · Creative and drama Groups for children
  • Yoga                                                 · Artisans Fair

The main challenges that they face are fund raising and that all their staff are volunteers with varying degrees of available time.        DE
