10th July 2025- Boules Fest –– Alan Folwell

President Gail confirmed to the 27attendees that the Boules Festival was officially open and thanked Alan Folwell for his hospitality and organisation of the event and food, and welcoming new member David John.

So, the members were split into 5 groups that played for about 30 minutes (whilst the sausages cooked), producing a winner from each group who then played the ‘knockout final’. This is where the furthest from the ‘jack’ was eliminated, one boule each at a time.  Sue was the first to go, overwhelmed by the ‘big match nerves. Jim followed, then Steve Carson, leaving Stan and David V to battle it out for the Championship.  Stan took the honours, with David tiring after all the exertion and excitement!

Maggie and Sue then served up the two delicious hot dogs, professionally cooked by Alan and supplemented with onions provide by Bill and Jim. Relaxed drinking and conversation saw out the rest of the evening, with a clear up and recycling sorted, a great evening of fun and camaraderie with the members joining to give host Alan the usual warm round of applause.                        AR
