30th January 2025- Rob’s Quiz - Rob Gray
We had an update from Chris S about this afternoon’s Memory Café, with 51 attending, a new record. Rob made an interesting presentation, followed by the usual ‘sing song’, tea, sandwiches and cake, another good day!
Gail then ‘collared’ a few members to sponsor our ‘team’ for the Swimathon and Rob gave out the first part of his quiz: ‘Food and Drink’, which were split between the Top Table (TT) and Table 1(T1). The 25 questions gave us some challenges, probably the toughest were: You could be considered as yellow, if you’re this? (chicken); A little sore around the rear end? (tenderloin); You can find it alongside “egg” and muck? (Rum-Scottish Island). This resulted in 21 points for TT and 23 for T1. Then followed the Music quiz, based around film and TV music of ‘our’ era. These ranged from music to ‘The Bridge over the river Kwai’, Gladiators, Titanic, the Magnificent Seven, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, the problematic one was The Guns of Navarone. The TV covered Dr. Finlay’s Casebook, Reginald Perrin, Minder, All Creatures Great and Small, The Saint, but when questioned covered the products, we seemed to struggle producing 21 points for TT and only 14 for T1. So, Adrian, Alan F, Gail, Doug, Allen R, Chris B and President Gerry receiving the magnificent Chocolate prize!
Gerry thanked Rob for the interesting quizzes, after which a warm round of applause from the members followed, showing their appreciation. AR
