30th June 2022 President Gordon returned to the fold for his final event of his year and having been to about half a dozen other Clubs in his role as Assistant DG. He greeted the members with the good news that we had a 'new' member. as a transfer from our former mother club, in the shape of Jim Gostick, who was given a warm welcome.
Gerry mentioned the trip that Jane and she attended at Veolia with St. Peters Rota Kids, which they thoroughly enjoyed and pointed out this as a good example of Rotary supporting schools. Their presence enabled the correct ration of adults to pupils, with only Head Richard accompanying them, leaving the rest of the staff to their normal teaching roles. She also went on to describe their successful Queen's Jubilee celebration event at the Memory Cafe.
President Gordon then presented the Harry Thompson Trophy to Steve Carson, congratulating him on all his hard work with the Fund raising committee, The Christmas Float organisation and volunteering to take on the Treasurers Duties, a well deserved award.
We then proceeded to the formal Handover to President Elect Rob, who thanked Gordon for his excellent year of "returning back to normal". Unfortunately Rob's President Elect David E and President Nominee Gerry Short were unable to attend this evening, so their regalia would be presented on a future occasion. Rob reminded members to look out for suitable Speakers or activities and notify either Ian or Denis. AR
