Wonderful sounds rang out at the Vale of Belvoir Memory Café in October
as it was a special treat to listen to the amazing Solfa choir
consisting of five ladies accompanied by Rob their pianist. Their leader
Anne Robson led the choir in well known songs some from shows and films
and it was delightful to listen to their perfect harmonies.
Each monthly meeting has a different theme to encourage the attendees to
participate and recall events and memories from the past and stimulate
involvement
Most meetings have ausio visuals and often artefacts to encourage participants to recall major things that have happened in their lifetime.
This
month the afternoon began with Chris Henley encouraging everyone to
think about words and letters and there was great participation from the
attendees as they tried to recall girls and boys names for every letter
of the alphabet and recall many old TV programmes based on words such
as Blankety Blank.
The Memory café is
held on the last Thursday of the month in Cotgrave Church is run by
Rotarians from the Rotary Club of the Vale of Belvoir supported by many
Rotarian wives and is for people suffering from early Dementia or
Alzheimer’s and their carers. Half way through the meeting afternoon tea
is served consisting of delicious sandwiches and scrumptious homemade
cakes.
The
meetings are held on the last Thursday of each month, last for about 2
hours and all age groups are encouraged to attend. For more information
