Saturday 19 October 2019 Soup’n’Pud Evening at Bingham WI Hut
A good turnout who first of all enjoyed their Chicken and Mushroom or carrot and coriander soup followed by various exciting puds from Lemon meringue, trifle, pumpkin pie to tiramisu.
On the table were 3 papers with: a Food and Drinks Dingbats, a Food anagrams and a drink anagrams, all quite complex, but were studied during eating/drinking session. Out of 58 answers Alan Folwell’s table returned 40 correct answers to win the competition (AF & SF, RG & JG, CR & RR)
Then the “game events” with 6 selected “victims” (AF, PR, ST, AR, SM & MT) having first to design an elephant in 5 minutes from Play-Doh and other materials (eyes)….not an easy task! Alan F’s ‘yellow Peril gaining the winning spot.
This was followed by “drop the potato” into a plastic beaker, inside a pair of ladies tights, no hands permitted, which I believe was won by AR. Finally we had the blindfolded ‘pin the donkeys tail’, again, I believe won by Susan M, who it turned out was overall “Games Champion”
Finally we had the “apron parade” where contestants had to ‘strut their stuff’ appropriate to their apron. It was no contest when Keith aped his way to victory with his ‘griddle’ (Gorilla) apron.
David V. kept things ticking over as MC and much appreciation was voiced for Maggie, Jane….& Keith’s hard work in preparing for the evening of fun and games and fellowship which was enjoyed by all! AR
